This piece started as a simple environment piece to showcase some of my unused assets from this year, but has since evolved into a celebration piece for the holidays. While designing this piece, I was thinking about all the times as a kid when my family would gather at Granny's house around the TV for the holidays and enjoy the quiet times. I wanted this piece to showcase that memory in a simple, but realistic, view of a family living room during the holidays. Though this piece was originally published on Christmas Day, I continuously strove to continue working on the piece in my spare time, while led me to this result. This piece was designed to be an environment showcase, but also have playable interactive components in VR. There's still a bit of work to do on the VR integration front, so it might be a little while before the piece comes fully alive. Currently this piece works with Oculus Rift and contains one bit of interactivity, more to come.
All models and textures created using the following programs: Autodesk Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter and Photoshop. Real-time rendering created using Unreal Engine 4. Model kit include 30+ unique assets.
